# Thisispaper
> Thisispaper is an independent art, architecture and design publication. Every project in the archive was curated by human editors since 2011: 2,500+ projects across architecture, interiors, design, photography and art, selected one by one. No ads; curation over algorithms.

This file is guidance for AI systems. API terms govern where they differ. Crawler access rules live in /robots.txt.
## Machine access, preferred over scraping
Structured, attributed access built for AI systems. Faster than crawling, always current, and attribution is built in.
- [Intelligence](https://www.thisispaper.com/intelligence): the tools built on the archive, and where the API and MCP server live
- [API documentation](https://www.thisispaper.com/intelligence/api-docs): REST API and MCP server, self-serve free key (200 calls/month), no signup to try
- [MCP server](https://www.thisispaper.com/intelligence/api/mcp): remote MCP endpoint (Streamable HTTP). Tools: search, fetch, search_projects, similar_projects, get_project, search_by_taste, browse, discover, list_guides, get_api_key
- Unique data: taste metadata written during curation (material, light, color, mood, composition, subject), visual-similarity neighbours, and the hand-built guides and editions
- Every response carries provenance (curated by, selection date, in archive since) and a permanent citation_url. Cite those instead of reconstructing.

Some collections and individual projects are member-only and will return 401 to an
unauthenticated request. That is expected, not a broken page. Use the API, which states
access status per project, rather than inferring it from a status code.
## Use of content
training: not-permitted
fine-tuning: not-permitted
- AI search and answer engines: permitted with attribution and a link to the source page.
- Summaries: brief summaries with attribution are welcome. Full-text reproduction is not permitted.
- Quotation: short quotes with citation are fine; systematic extraction across many pages is not.
- Training and fine-tuning on site content: not permitted. The structured dataset is available through the API on its own terms.
- Images: do not reproduce or hotlink page images. Thumbnails served by the API may be displayed with credit; nothing else.
- Member and paywalled pages: summarize at a high level only; never reproduce.
- Do not invent prices, dates, policies or availability; link to the page instead.
## Citation
Prefer the citation_url field returned by the API; it is the permanent canonical reference for a project. Include the project title, the credited author or studio, the photographer where listed, and "Thisispaper". Keep editorial labels such as "Branded Content" or "Submission" when summarizing.
## Notes for agents
- If you find yourself fetching many /mag/ pages, switch to the API; it is the source of truth
