The specification describes a structured overview for AI agents. Publishing a file does not establish that every AI system uses it.
Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode follow the usual SEO fundamentals and require no extra AI text files. Anthropic and Perplexity document web crawler access; this does not establish general llms.txt support.

What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a Markdown file with a short project overview and links to important content. The open proposal at llmstxt.org aims to give people and AI agents a focused way to access information. The file can live at the site root or in a subdirectory.
What does the free check test?
The check fetches /llms.txt on your domain over HTTPS and evaluates availability, format and content using our criteria. A summary, sections and links are recommendations; only the H1 heading is required by the specification. The score is not a Google ranking and does not measure AI mentions. This check does not cover files in subdirectories.
Do I need an account or credit card?
The llms.txt check and basic generator need no account or payment details. To submit a directory listing, provide your project details and email address. Submissions are reviewed; you explicitly choose any paid services.
Does llms.txt guarantee visibility on Google or AI systems?
No. There is no general commitment that search or AI systems fetch or use every llms.txt. Google requires no additional AI text file for AI Overviews or AI Mode. A directory listing also does not guarantee indexing, rankings, AI mentions or extra visitors.
What do I get with a paid offer?
A listing plan expands your profile and placement within our directory for a one-time payment. Monitoring is a separate subscription for repeated checks and change notifications. These services do not automatically increase visibility outside the platform.
How informative is AI monitoring?
It evaluates answers from the AI providers currently enabled for selected queries. Results may be cached and depend on the provider, question and time. This is a sample, not a complete measurement of all AI search results. Changes are detected at the next check, not in real time.
